Dec. 5: Seratones – Funk/Soul/Rock
“Revolution is not a one-time event.”
Those words of Black feminist icon, Audre Lorde resonate deeply with A.J. Haynes, frontwoman of Shreveport, Louisiana, based funk-soul-rock group Seratones. Seratones blend punk, rock, soul, and R&B with electronic influences to create a dynamic sound that moves both heart and body. Haynes draws inspiration from Black feminism, astrology, and Afrofuturism, weaving these themes into the band’s identity and music.
With Seratones, Haynes urges listeners to engage with life fully and joyfully, embracing both struggle and celebration. “The valuable part of the creative process is being present in challenging times... I want bliss and wholeness. I want to sit in this world longer.”
