The Transportation Engineering Division is responsible for ensuring that our citizens travel safely and efficiently throughout the city!

This means we plan, design, and manage all roadways, sidewalks, traffic signals, signs, pavement markings, and capacity for the City of Ocala streets.

Whether you are walking, biking, or driving, we want you to be safe!

Staff services include project design, permitting, specifications, cost estimates, bid proposals and construction engineering. The Transportation Engineering Division provides direct oversight of The Traffic Management Center by collecting data, performing traffic studies, monitoring traffic flow, developing signalization timing and providing alternative measures to increase roadway safety and improve quality of life.

Additionally, the Transportation Engineering Division supports and partners with the Ocala/Marion County Transportation Planning Organization and Ocala’s Growth Management Department in the review of new developments and promoting Ocala as an Economic Hub.
