The City of Ocala City Council adopted Ordinance 2020-3, authorizing and regulating the use of golf carts, low-speed vehicles, and mini trucks upon certain designated streets, shown on the map  via Resolution 2020-4.

• Operation of golf carts is restricted to only licensed drivers. Licensed drivers shall be at least 16 years of age and possess a valid state-issued driver’s license; a learner’s permit is not permissible.
• It is unlawful for an unlicensed driver, defined as a driver who does not hold and possess a valid state-issued driver’s license, to operate a golf cart.
• Golf carts are only permitted in the approved map area.
• Driving on roads over 35 mph is prohibited as stated in Florida Statute 316.212
• Operation is prohibited on sidewalks.
• The operation of a golf cart between sunrise and sunset is prohibited unless the golf cart is equipped with efficient brakes, reliable steering apparatus, safe tires, a rearview mirror, and red reflectorized warning devices in both the front and rear.

The operation of a golf cart between sunset and sunrise is prohibited unless the golf cart additionally has headlights, brake lights, turn signals and a windshield.

The operation of golf carts is prohibited on city park property unless appropriate infrastructure (i.e., golf cart specific, or designated trails) are in place to support golf cart and low speed vehicles. Golf carts are not permitted on any green spaces in parks. They should park in the provided parking to utilize the park facilities. Per Chapter 46 section 46-276-278.

Golf carts are allowed to park in designated parking lots. The approved parking locations can be found on the approved golf cart map. In the downtown area, parking is allowed in a standard streetside parking stall. Meters will need to be paid when during operational hours (Monday – Friday from 8:00am-6:00pm).

Parking is always prohibited in the parking garage. 

Golf cart users are encouraged to park side by side in a manner that two golf carts will fit in a standard vehicle parking space. (as shown below)
