Ocala’s First Ever Sand Sculpture Competition!

Saturday, May 16, 2026 | 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Citizens’ Circle, 151 SE Osceola Ave.

Ocala Cultural Arts is bringing the beach to Downtown Ocala for the first time with the Sand and Sun Festival! This exciting event will feature six professional, nationally acclaimed sand sculptors who will create large-scale, detailed sand sculptures based on an open theme. A panel of expert judges will evaluate the sculptures and determine First and Second Place, with winners announced at 4:30 p.m., and attendees will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite sculpture to win the Fan Favorite Award.

Children are invited to explore the Sandcastle Playground, a hands-on area with a sand pit where they can build and shape their own sand creations.

Throughout the day, attendees can enjoy live music and community performances at Citizens’ Circle creating a lively atmosphere filled with energy and entertainment. Visitors will also enjoy eating at local food trucks, exploring offerings from community non-profits and sponsors, and shopping for unique items from artisan and craft vendors.

This is a free event open to the public, offering a full day of family-friendly activities and creativity in downtown Ocala. Don’t miss this one-of-a-kind celebration of sand, sun, and fun!

The winners of the 2026 Sand Sculpting Competition are:

First Place: Andy Daily – Scorpion King, awarded a $1,000 cash prize
Second Place: Amanda Bolduc – Kindred Spirits, awarded a $600 cash prize
Fan Favorite Award: Andy Daily – Scorpion King, awarded a $300 cash prize

About the sand sculptors

Amanda Bolduc Amanda Bolduc is a Master Sand Sculptor and former U.S. Army Combat Engineer Officer whose passion for sand sculpting began on family trips to Fort Myers Beach. Since 2006, she has competed nationwide, earning top recognition in both sand and snow sculpting, including representing Team USA internationally. Andy Daily Andy Daily is a professional sand sculptor with over a decade of experience. He has served as Sand Manager for the Siesta Key Crystal Classic International Sand Sculpting Festival in Sarasota, Florida for the past seven years and was featured on the Travel Channel’s “Best in Sand.” He has earned numerous awards across Florida and, as an instructor with Sandventure Crew, is passionate about teaching and inspiring others in sand sculpting. Mitch Guerrero Mitch Guerrero is a professional sand sculptor with over a decade of experience and numerous first-place finishes in major competitions across the country. Based in Florida, he has created sculptures for high-profile clients and events, from festivals to weddings. Josh Jakubowski Josh Jakubowski is an emerging professional sand sculptor with a background in product design and engineering. A lifelong artist specializing in drawing the human figure, Josh transitioned into ice and snow sculpting before expanding into sand. Originally from Wisconsin, he has earned multiple honors in sculpting competitions and continues to grow his presence in the sand sculpting world.
Bruce Peck Bruce Peck is a Master Sand Sculptor and former CPA who rediscovered his artistic passion after moving to Florida’s Gulf Coast. Now competing internationally in both sand and snow sculpting, Bruce is known for his detailed and expressive style. His work reflects a deep appreciation for storytelling and creativity, bringing meaning and artistry to every sculpture.
Mark Wilson Mark Wilson is a Florida-based sand sculptor who discovered his passion for the art in 2011. Since then, he has competed in numerous regional and national competitions, earning multiple awards including first-place and sculptor’s choice honors. Mark enjoys continually challenging his skills and values the creativity and community found within the sand sculpting world.

Mary Sue Rich Community Center at Reed Place - Line Dance group Join the Mary Sue Rich Community Center Line Dance Group on Tuesdays from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. for youth ages 5–17. This free program, led by KDC and the Sunshine Sliders, teaches basic line dance steps in a fun and friendly environment.

Is there an admission fee?

No, the Sand & Sun Festival is free to attend! Visitors can enjoy live sand sculpting, music, performances, and family-friendly activities at no cost.

What happens if it rains?

In the event of inclement weather, the Sand & Sun Festival will be rescheduled to Saturday, May 23, 2026.

Updates will be posted on the City of Ocala Cultural Arts Instagram page @OcalaCulturalArts. Please check for updates leading up to the event.

Where can I park?

Free parking is available throughout downtown Ocala, including, including the Downtown Parking Garage (on SE Broadway St.) and nearby public parking areas within walking distance of Citizens’ Circle.

Are there public restrooms nearby?

Yes, public restrooms are available on-site at Citizens’ Circle.

Is the event accessible for individuals with disabilities?

Yes, the festival takes place in an accessible outdoor space with paved areas and nearby accessible parking.

Are pets allowed?

Yes! Friendly, leashed pets are welcome. Please be mindful of large crowds, noise levels, and vendor areas, and remember to clean up after your pet.

What time are the sand sculptures judged?

It is the City of Ocala’s intent to provide a high quality, family friendly, home-town event atmosphere throughout the Sand and Sun Festival.
