Employee Benefits: 

Medical Insurance

Available to employees working 30+ hours per week, with single and family coverage options.

Dental Insurance

Full-time employees may elect single or family dental coverage.

Vision Insurance

Full-time employees may elect single or family vision coverage.

Life Insurance

The City provides Basic Life and Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) coverage at no cost to full-time employees.
Employees may also elect supplemental voluntary life insurance, spouse life, dependent life, and child life coverage.

Short Term and Long Term Disability

Income replacement benefits that assist full-time employees who are unable to work for an extended period due to illness or accidental injury. Full-time employees may elect Short Term Disability as a voluntary benefit. Long Term Disability is provided at no cost to the employee as an employer paid benefit. 

Medical and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA)

Flexible spending accounts allow employees to pay out-of-pocket medical, dental, vision, and dependent care expenses using pre-tax dollars.

Additional Health and Wellness Programs: 

Employee Health & Wellness Center

Available to employees and covered dependents (age 8+) enrolled in a City of Ocala medical plan.
Services include primary care, chronic disease management, labs, X-rays, and wellness coaching.

Free, confidential support for full-time employees and household members.
Services include counseling, daily life assistance, legal support, and financial guidance.

 

Financial and Retirement Benefits: 

401 (A) Defined Contribution Retirement Plan

For full-time employees hired after 10/01/2013 (excluding sworn Police Officers and Firefighters).

  • City contributes 8%
  • Employee contributes 3%
  • City contributions vest at 100% after one year

Deferred Compensation (457) Plan and Roth IRA Plan

Deferred compensation (457) is available to all full-time and part-time employees at the time of employment. Participants of the 457 plan may designate contributions as either Pre-Tax or After-Tax (Roth) deductions. Roth IRA is available to all full-time employees. Both plans are administered by MissionSquare and participants can reach out to the Retirement Plans Specialist at (202) 759-7059 for additional plan details. 

Direct Deposit

Direct deposit is required for all employees and automatically deposits your net pay each pay period to your checking or savings account at your own financial institution. Each pay period, employees receive an earnings statement showing gross pay, deductions, accruals, and net pay.

Time Off and Leave Benefits:

Holidays, Paid Time Off, Vacation and Sick Leave

Full-time employees receive paid holidays and leave benefits.

Training Programs:

The City is committed to provide training programs for all departments and all positions. Risk Management conducts classes in Defensive Driving, Safety, and Insurance. With rare exceptions, classes are offered during working hours, and are open to all eligible employees.

Tuition Reimbursement

Available to all regular full-time employees.

  • Covers 100% of eligible tuition, registration, books, and lab fees
  • Up to $3,000 per fiscal year
  • Courses must be job-related or required for a job-related degree
  • Must receive a grade of 2.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale or a passing grade when a pass/fail system is used
  • Tuition forms must be approved before starting the course
