Step-by-Step Instructions for RGS Interconnection:
1. Complete the Initial Solar Request Form
- Submit the completed Initial Solar Request Form SolarRequestForm.ocalafl.gov to electricengineeringsolar@ocalafl.gov This form is required to initiate the interconnection process.
- If you are Leasing a Renewable Generation System click here: RGS Leased Process
2. OEU Maximum System Size Calculation
- OEU will calculate the maximum size of the Renewable Generation System (RGS) that can be interconnected with the electric grid.
3. Schedule an In-Person Meeting
- OEU will contact you to schedule an in-person meeting to discuss the interconnection process and sign the required agreements.
4. Property Owner Meets with an RGS Contractor
- The property owner must meet with an RGS contractor to discuss installation details. The contractor must submit the required RGS engineering documentation to OEU for review and approval.
- Upon OEU’s approval of all necessary documentation, the RGS Approval Letter will be issued to the property owner.
5. Obtain Required Permits
- The property owner (or contractor) must obtain the necessary installation permits through the City of Ocala or the Marion County Building Department, depending on the property address.
- Note: An approval letter from OEU is required to obtain installation permits.
6. Complete Installation and Inspection
- The RGS contractor/installer will complete the installation and arrange for inspection and approval by the relevant local municipality.
- Once installation is complete and approved, the property owner should notify OEU that the project has been finished.
7. OEU Final Approval and Permission to Operate
- Upon field verification, OEU will submit the Interconnection Agreements to both the City of Ocala and the Florida Municipal Power Agency (FMPA).
- After agreements are executed (please allow 2-4 weeks for processing), OEU will issue a Permission to Operate letter to the property owner, and a net meter will be installed within approximately 2-5 business days.
Important Notes:
- Property Owners Must Submit Interconnection Agreements: OEU will no longer accept Interconnection Agreements submitted by contractors, installers, or third-party processors. Property owners must be the ones to submit these agreements directly.
