1. Is the park pet friendly? 

Yes. All pets must remain on a leash while in the park. It is the responsibility of the owner to clean up after their pet. Doggy bags are not available at the park so be sure to bring your own. Pets are welcomed throughout the park, but only service animals are allowed inside the Welcome Center. 
 
2. Is there a cost to get into the park? 

There is no cost.

4. What is there to do? 

Fort King includes the reconstructed fort, a nature walking trail that includes the Seep Spring, Chickee, Welcome Center, and Archaeology Resource Center. There are picnic tables around the park to enjoy a picnic, but no grills available. 
 
5. Is this a National Park or part of the National Park Service? 

Fort King is a National Landmark but is owned jointly by the City of Ocala and Marion County. It is not a National Park. 
 
6. Can I get a stamp for my park passport? 

Yes! We have a stamp for the park passports at the front desk of the Visitor Center which is open Friday and Saturday.
 
7. Do you have a gift shop? 

We do not have a gift shop currently. 
 
8. I would like to schedule a tour. Who do I contact for that?

• Reconstructed Fort: Step inside a full-scale replica of the original 1800s U.S. Army frontier fort, central to the Second Seminole War.

• Heritage Teaching Garden: Discover traditional 19th-century gardening techniques and native Florida crops in this hands-on educational space.
• Interpretive Nature Trail: Follow a scenic trail that winds from the fort’s hilltop location down to the Seep Spring and through a lush ravine filled with native and non-native plant species.
• Picnic Areas: Bring a lunch and relax at one of our shaded picnic facilities, perfect for families, school groups, or casual visitors.

• Group Tours: Planning a visit with 10 or more people? Please call ahead to schedule a guided experience tailored to your group’s interests.
• Accessibility: Fort King is committed to providing access for all visitors. Special arrangements can be made for individuals with mobility challenges—please contact us in advance to ensure a smooth visit.

City of Ocala Film/Video Production Permit 

Application must be submitted to receive permission to use City property for any commercial film, video, and/or still photo shoot. For consideration, the completed application must be submitted a minimum of 20 days and not more than 365 days prior to film/production date(s). Application must be complete, include any required attachments and the required $10 non-refundable processing fee.
