Public Education/Outreach

The City of Ocala Water Resources Department is committed to protecting our community’s most valuable resource—water. Through education, outreach, facility tours, and community engagement, we help residents understand Ocala’s water systems and learn how to practice responsible water use every day.

Our Mission

To provide accessible education, meaningful outreach, and community involvement that promotes environmental stewardship and long-term sustainability for the City of Ocala Water Resources.

Water Conservation Education – click here

We offer tools and information that support responsible water use, including: leak detection and prevention, indoor and outdoor water-saving tips, and Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ principles.

Youth & School Outreach

We partner with schools, homeschool groups, and youth organizations to provide engaging educational programs, classroom presentations, and hands-on learning experiences. These opportunities help students learn where their water comes from, how it’s protected, and why conservation matters.

Our outreach also introduces students to careers in water resources, engineering, environmental science, and skilled trades, highlighting the important role these professions play in protecting public health and the environment. Through education and exploration, we aim to inspire environmental stewardship and encourage the next generation to care for and protect our community’s water resources.

Community Events

Our team attends festivals, neighborhood events, and meetings throughout the year to provide conservation tips, educational exhibits, interactive activities, and free water-saving resources.
