Water Treatment Plants

Water Treatment Plant # 1

The City of Ocala’s Water Treatment Plant #1 has been in continuous operation since 1972, serving as the sole provider of drinking water for more than 69,000 residents. Operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week, the facility produces an average of 15 million gallons of award-winning potable water daily. A team of trained and licensed operators is on-site around the clock, conducting water quality tests every two hours to ensure compliance with—and exceedance of—all drinking water standards.

Water Treatment Plant #2

To support future demand and enhance environmental sustainability, the City is currently designing and constructing Water Treatment Plant #2. This new facility will be supplied by three Upper Floridan Aquifer wells and four Lower Floridan Aquifer wells. The plant is expected to be fully operational in 2032. The plant will help alleviate pressure on the Upper Floridan Aquifer and contribute to the protection of Silver Springs.
